No Mining, No Conflicts Funded, No Communities Displaced

Not only does mining cause environmental damage, leading to land, wildlife, and community displacement, but it's also been shown that mining has funded conflicts, child and slave labor, and many other human rights atrocities. With the scandals that have come to light from "ethical" jewelry companies selling mined gemstones, it's very hard to know where a gemstone truly comes from, which is why we won't sell mined gemstones until we have systems to verify their source.

Meet Me

I've been designing jewelry, for fun, since 2014 after a trip to Myanmar (formerly Burma) and seeing all the pretty gemstones being sold in the markets. The initial plan was to pick out a gemstone for my mom and sister and then make it into a necklace, but after just thirty minutes, I was so mesmerized by all of the colorful gemstones, I ended up buying 12!

With my 12 new gemstones, I decided to learn the basics of jewelry making to gift my mom and sister, and after a lot of compliments (my mom and sister are nice people! haha) I later learned CAD design to make pretty gemstone jewelry for friends and other family members.

Fast forward to the Covid Pandemic, I had a lot of free time, so I started designing more jewelry pieces and that's when friends and friends of friends started seeing my designs and asking me to design them something. I was having so much fun, and learning a lot, which is why I decided to start Alexander D.

Throughout the last decade, I've become more educated on the mining industry, and how many big jewelry companies bury their heads in the sand when it comes to sourcing their materials. For example, a gemstone can change hands dozens of times before reaching the end consumer, which is why it's very hard to know where a gemstone truly comes from and under what conditions. Until I can be sure where my gemstones are coming from, I've opted to only sell lab made gemstones.

Meet Our Materials

Sterling Silver

All of our jewelry has sturdy sterling silver as a base metal, which is hypoallergenic, low maintenance, and affordably luxurious.

Gold Vermeil

Many of our jewelry pieces are designed with gold vermeil, which is sterling silver with a thick layer of gold plating. This will ensure that the gold will last for a long time, while being more affordable than solid gold.

Moissanite

Moissanite has more sparkle and brilliance than a diamond! It's also more ethical, affordable, and will last forever. We don't see any downsides!

Longevity

We make our jewelry with the highest quality materials for our price point so that they provide you with years of enjoyment. We specifically design and test our jewelry with safe guards in place so that you can enjoy them without having to stress about damaging your jewelry!

Sustainability

We use lab made gemstones, sustainable packaging, and recycled materials where possible. Our recycled metals come from existing jewelry, recycled electronic parts, and recycled industrial metals so that no new metals have to be mined.
